Steps

    Cut paper into a perfect square shape. You want your paper to measure 6” x 6.” Use a ruler to ensure you obtain the precise shape and size.

    Create the origami hexagon base shape. Hold paper in a diamond shape and fold in half to create a triangle shape.
    • Fold triangle in half and then fold the right corners in, toward one another. Resume the triangle’s former shape but maintain the fold indent.

    • Fold the top of the same side of the triangle tip to the fold indent in the middle. Lay the triangle flat but retain the fold (you should have two fold indentations on the right side).

    • Fold the far right bottom corner over the top of the triangle so that tip juts out across the left side.

    • Grasp the far left bottom corner and fold it over to the other side of the triangle, which should create a “V” shape with peaks on top.

    • Measure along the fold area on top (consider drawing a line across the top) and then cut the paper.

    Draw two circular lines along the top of your “V” near the area where the folds emerge. Use your compass and pencil to ensure you create a symmetrical circle.

    Add two starburst flower designs below the lower symmetrical circle. Shape the starburst in more of a petal formation so it looks almost like a flower.

    Cut out along pattern lines starting by removing the top of the hexagon paper. Cut out the flower/starburst pattern, anchoring it to the circular pattern toward the top of the paper.

    Unfold paper (gently) to reveal the origami leaf design. Erase any remaining pencil lines before displaying.
