How to Email Amazon

Amazon is one of the world’s largest online retailers and handles millions of orders and transactions on a daily basis. If you want to contact Amazon by email, there are currently three different methods you can use. You can either send an email to Amazon via the Amazon website, send an email directly to Amazon’s customer service department, or send an email to Jeff Bezos - the founder, President, and CEO of Amazon.

Method 1
Emailing Amazon Online

    Go to the Amazon website.

    Point to “Your Account” and click on “Sign in.

    Sign in to Amazon using your email address and password.

    Click on “Help” near the top of your Amazon session.

    Click on “Contact Us” in the right pane under “Self Service. Amazon’s main “Contact Us” page will display.

    Select an option that best describes the nature of your inquiry next to “What can we help you with? You can choose from “An order I placed,” “Kindle,” “Digital Services,” or “Something else.”

    Select an issue from the drop-down menu next to “Tell us more about your issue. For example, if you have been charged for something you didn’t order, select “Unknown charge” from the drop-down menu.

    Click on “Send us an email” when prompted to select a contact method. An email field will display on the Web page.

    Type your email into the email field provided. Amazon may ask you to provide specific information about your issue, based on the reason you chose.

    Click on “Send email” after you have finished typing your message to Amazon. Your email will then be sent to Amazon’s customer service department, and you will receive a reply within the timeframe specified.

Method 2
Emailing Amazon Directly

    Log in to your email client.

    Compose a new email message.

    Type your message to Amazon including as many details as you can about your issue. For example, if you are contacting Amazon to discuss a particular Amazon order you placed, include the order number, date you placed the order, item description, tracking number, etc.

    Send your email to Amazon customer service at cis@amazon.com. Amazon will then reply to your email within an average of 38 minutes.[1]

Method 3
Emailing Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos

    Log in to your email account.

    Select the option to compose a new email message.

    Write your message to Jeff including as many details as you can about your inquiry. For example, if you are emailing Jeff about an ongoing issue you’ve been having with Amazon, provide a full explanation that includes how long the issue has been going on, the names of people you have spoken with, etc.

    Send your email to jeff@amazon.com. Jeff will then forward your email to an employee who can effectively handle your inquiry and resolve your issue as soon as possible.[2]

Tips

  • If you have plans to escalate a major issue with Amazon based on a negative experience, you may want to consider the method for emailing Jeff Bezos. Amazon employees are required to provide a thorough explanation for why a negative incident occurred and present the information to Jeff as well as to a series of Amazon managers.
