How to Fix a PlayStation 3 Controller That Your PS3 Will Not Detect in Safe Mode

Safe Mode is a special start-up mode of Sony PlayStation®3 consoles which gives users access to various diagnostic and repair tools. When you boot your PS3 into Safe Mode, it will ask you to plug in your controller and press the PS button in order to access its features.     Turn off your console and its controllers.

    Locate the reset pin of the defective DualShock®3 controller. It is a hole typically located on the back of the controller near the L2 shoulder button.

    Reset the controller. Using a thin object such as a sharpened pencil or an unfolded paperclip, depress the reset pin for at least 20 seconds.
