    Figure out what you like to write. Is it fiction? Nonfiction? Essays or articles?

    Find a writing website, or a forum that looks appealing, and will attract the most people. There are a lot of websites where you can share your unpublished short stories, novels, or even essays. Figment.com, Wattpad.com, or Fictionpress.com are all great places to get started. If you feel like you can create your own forum to advertise and find other writers, forums.com is a place to do so.

    Create a blog. Post upcoming writings to give your fans something to anticipate! Wordpress or blogger are great places to get started. Wordpress is recommended though, because you can have an attractive blog for free, or create a more sophisticated one for as low as $18.00 a year.

    If you are good with media, make a short trailer about your book and post it to YouTube.

    Participate in NaNoWriMo. If you reach your word count, Createspace.com will send you a free paperback copy of your novel. How great is that?

Tips

  • Take others' criticism lightly. Sometimes people are out there just to discourage you.
