How to Look Bright Eyed

Being tired is awful, especially if you have to get up and go out! But you can get rid of tired eyes and make them look bright, and this article will tell you exactly how!

    Buy some makeup. Find out what colors look good on your complexion and buy some makeup. Many stores will let you sample different brands and colors before buying.

    Use concealer. Buy a concealer a shade lighter than your skin. Apply the concealer under your eyes to cover up bags and dark spots. Avoid applying it to the extent where it looks fake.

    Use some eyeshadow that complements your eye color and apply it to the crease in your eyes.
    • For brown eyes, try green or purple eyeshadow.
    • For blue eyes, try green.
    • For green eyes, try neutral, yellow, orange tones. Apply shadow up to the crease in your eye.

    Use a little bit of eyeliner. Apply a thin layer of liner two-thirds of the way across your lid on the top, and a thin layer about a third of the way across on the bottom. Applying eyeliner all the way around your eye will make you look like a raccoon.
    • For black lashes use black eyeliner.
    • For red or blonde lashes use navy or brown eyeliner.

    Curl your lashes. Curling your lashes helps make your eyes pop. You can buy a special eyelash curler for this.

    Get plenty of sleep! No makeup looks better than the truly bright eyes that you get from enough sleep.


  • Practice using your makeup on a day that you don't need to go out. If you are applying the makeup last-minute without practice you might not have time to wash it out if you mess up.
  • Using dark makeup like eyeliner or mascara on the bottom of your eyes might make the dark shadows under your eyes darker.
  • Remember to get lots of sleep. You can't be bright-eyed if you can't even keep them open!
  • Always be sure to drink plenty of water, it helps keep those eyes bright, not to mention your skin looking great!
  • Try eye primer on your tear duct.


  • If your eyes are really sore, red and painful, go and see a doctor as soon as possible. This could be a sign of an infection.
  • Using too much makeup can make you look worse than when you started and makeup is expensive.
  • You can seriously hurt your eyes if you poke them with anything used to apply makeup.
  • Test the makeup on the insides of your wrists to check and make sure you aren't allergic.
