How to Make a Chikungunya Healing Soup

Who feels it knows it! Those of us who have been infected with this virus know very well the pain and discomfort that it brings. The key with treatment is to aim at alleviating the symptoms. The following natural soup or broth is soothing and focuses on the symptoms/effects of Chikungunya, which include high fever, pain, dizziness, joint pains, nausea, and vomiting. The soup can help to alleviate these symptoms and may even decrease the effects.

Ingredients

  • Garlic,
  • Turmeric
  • Ginger and fever grass
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 pack of noodles soup (for convenience and being a little filling)
  • 4 stalks of callaloo (for iron)
  • 7 cloves of chopped up garlic (for infection, fever, pain, flu symptoms, decreases high blood pressure[citation needed])
  • 1.5 root of grated ginger (for pain, fever, nausea, asthma, anti-inflammatory, boosts immune system[citation needed])
  • 4 pieces of grated turmeric (for joint pain, anti-inflammatory, treats arthritis symptoms such as joint pains, and fever)
    • Fever grass - this is removed before the soup is finished (for vomiting, fever, joint pain, flu symptom, belly pain[citation needed])
  • Carrot
  • String bean
  • Pumpkin
  • A bit of chicken broth
  • Little salt
  • Little pepper

Part 1
Soup Preparation

    Grate, then boil, the ginger and turmeric together.

    Add the other vegetables to turn it into a soup. The pumpkin, sweet potato, carrot and string bean are added just to fill you and add nutrition.

    Add the soup noodles. While you don't need to use this, if you want to make a fast soup in 17 minutes, then use the noodles and omit the extra vegetables.

    Add the chopped up callaloo, chopped up garlic and fever grass. Do this about 4 minutes before the soup is finished cooking. You can add a little chicken broth for flavour and taste.

Part 2
Using Garlic as a Painkiller

    Chew 1 clove of garlic every 8 hours if you can bare the taste. Otherwise, take the pain killers that the doctor has recommended.

Increasing Your Energy Levels

    Increase citrus intake as much as possible, for the vitamin C content. For example, eat citrus fruits such as orange, lime, and grapefruit.

Tips

  • If you have low blood pressure, then use 1 more cup of water and 5 cloves of garlic instead and drink the soup every 12 hours instead of three times a day.
