How to Make a Fruit Trifle

Who doesn't love simple fruit-filled desserts? This delicious dish is perfect to make for a party or gathering. The recipe is quick and easy to make and it is a delight to eat! You can feature your favorite fruits in any combination you want!

Ingredients

  • 1 (15 oz) Can Fruit Cocktail
  • 6 Yellow Loaf Cake Slices
  • 4 Tbsp heaped Vanilla Custard Powder
  • 6 Tbsp Sugar
  • 3 Cups (750ml) Milk
  • 1 Pack Jelly Crystals (any flavor of your choice)
  • 2 Cups (500ml) Water

Steps

    Bring 2 2/3 cups (675ml) of milk to a boil in a saucepan.

    Mix sugar and vanilla custard powder in the remaining 1/3 (75ml) cup of milk to make a smooth paste.

    Pour the custard paste in boiling milk and cook for another 2-3 minutes with continuous stirring on medium heat.

    Lay the loaf cake slices evenly in a 8" x 11" dish.

    Pour half of the custard over the cake slices. Allow it to cool for 15 minutes at room temperature.

    Open the can of fruits and drain out the fruit juice. Spread fruits in an even layer over the custard.

    Pour the remaining half of the custard over the layer of fruits. Leave it aside after pouring in the rest of the custard.

    Boil 2 cups (500ml) of water in a saucepan and pour the jelly crystals. Stir continuously until the jelly crystals are dissolved.

    Pour the hot mixture into a mould or a flat dish. Allow it to cool for one hour at room temperature.

    Cut the jelly in small cubes

    Toss them evenly on top of the custard layer once the jelly mixture has cooled.
