Steps

Ensure pocket watch is clean and prepped to receive oils. Especially if you are working with an old watch, consider taking it to a jeweler for professional cleaning and inspection. Tell jeweler your plans to transform it into a solid perfume dispensary in the event the metal or material is either no compatible or too fragile.

Combine oils in a small glass. Stir well so the combination of oils is fully infused together in order to create your unique scent.

Melt beeswax. Using your pan or double boiler, break down and melt beeswax. Keep a careful eye on the wax to ensure it doesn’t burn.

Combine beeswax to oil and stir well. Stir until well integrated with the oil.
    • Re-heat beeswax and oil for a few seconds to ensure adhesion. This should not be a situation where the wax and oil should boil but rather warm together.

Pour into waiting pocket watch. Take care to slowly pour mixture into watch, being sure you don’t pour too fast--mixture could splatter.
    • Allow perfume to cool. Keep watch face open for best results.

Things You’ll Need

  • Clean, empty pocket watch
  • 1 ½ tsp. jojoba oil
  • 7 drops frankincense oil
  • 7 drops ylang ylang oil
  • 6 drops wild sweet orange oil
  • 1/2 tsp. grated beeswax
  • Eyedroppers
  • Non-metal pan or double boiler (to melt wax)
  • Small glass cup

Tips

  • Use any type of essential oils you desire. Or if you cannot find certain oils, either double up on one or two of your favorites or create a different scent combination.
  • If you don’t want to melt beeswax on the stove, place in a glass, microwave safe bowl and melt in the microwave. Melt in 20 second increments, stir in between melting and don’t over melt (allow for a few flakes to still remain and then stir well to integrate flakes).
