How to Make a Virgin Miami Vice

The virgin edition of the Miami Vice uses fresh fruit flavors, cream and cream of coconut to replace the rum, and the strawberry daiquiri mix and the piña colada mix that are used in the traditional recipe.

  • 1 oz. (15 ml) pineapple juice
  • 1/2 oz. (15 ml) cream
  • 1 oz. (30 ml) cream of coconut
  • 1 cup crushed ice, divided
  • 1-1/2 oz. (45 ml) strawberry puree
  • 1-1/2 oz. (45 ml) lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1/4 oz. (8 ml) simple syrup
  • Fresh strawberry for garnishing

    Place the pineapple juice, cream, cream of coconut and 1/2 cup of crushed ice in a blender.

    Blend until the mixture is smooth and then pour it into a highball glass.

    Wash the blender pitcher since you’ll be using it again.

    Add the strawberry puree, lemon juice, simple syrup and the other 1/2 cup crushed ice to the blender and blend the mixture until it is smooth.

    Place a spoon over the highball glass.

    Pour the strawberry-lemon blend over the back of the spoon and onto the top of the layer of pineapple-cream blend. The strawberry-lemon blend should serve as the top layer of the drink.

    Garnish the finished drink with a fresh strawberry.

Tips

  • To vary the flavor slightly, swap freshly-squeezed lime juice for the lemon juice.
  • You may also garnish this drink with a sprig of mint.
