How to Make Low Fat Hummus

Traditional hummus is made from chickpeas and olive oil, but it can be so much better.

Steps

    Chop half a medium yellow onion.

    Finely chop four cloves garlic.

    Mash chickpeas by hand or in food processor.

    Add onions and garlic to chickpea mash. Add lite "Apple-style-Italian salad dressing, rosemary, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.

    Add the zest and juice of one lime or lemon.

    Add Quarter eating teaspoon of French mustard.

    Spread on bread and eat as is, add sandwich meats, or use as a dip for chips or vegetables.

Tips

  • The chickpeas are easier to mash at room temperature, but the hummus mixture is tastier cooled. Give the ingredients a chance to mingle.

Warnings

  • Always rinse your chickpeas. They are canned in salt water.
