How to Make Minced Mutton Vadai

How about a lip smacking spicy starter to serve with your cocktails?These can also be served along with your main course as a side dish.its an Indian non vegetarian dish


  1. Minced Mutton- 250 gms
  2. Onion- 1
  3. ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
  4. Green chillies-2-3
  5. Fried gram (pottu kadalai) 100 gms
  6. Turmeric 1/2 tsp
  7. Salt-to taste
  8. Kothmir/parsley-small bunch
  9. Oil for deep frying

    Boil the minced mutton in a pressure cooker with turmeric, ginger garlic paste and green chillies in 1 cup water for 10 minutes.Cook till most of the water is evaporated

    Chop the onion finely. Powder the fried gram.Chop the kothmir/parsley leaves.

    In a blender add the boiled mince and chillies and run for a minute till it forms a soft, smooth pulp.Its important to squeeze out the water from the mince before running it in the blender.

    Add the powdered gram flour,salt and chopped green herbs to the mince and mix well.The mix will be neither sticky nor dry.The quantity of gram flour can be adjusted to gain the right texture.

    Make marble size balls, flatten a little with your hand and deep fry in hot oil.

    When the vadais are brown remove and drain on kitchen paper.

    Serve with tomato sauce.


  • The mince should not have much fat; excess fat will cause the vadai to break when deep frying.
