How to Make Split Crotch Pants

Split crotch pants are a great choice for babies or toddlers who are being potty-trained. These pants split at the crotch when the child squats in order for them to go to the bathroom easily and without having to pull their pants down.

Note: All seams have a 1/4" seam allowance.

Lay the pants so the two pieces are facing each other. Keep the bottom layer of the right pant leg on the table, then lay the bottom layer of the left leg overtop. Then repeat the process, this time with the top layer of the right leg on top of the bottom layer of the left.

Insert the elastic. Use a large safety pin to help guide the elastic through. Pin the safety pin onto the elastic and then shimmy it through the fabric until it's all the way through. Then sew the two ends of the elastic together very well so that it won't come apart. Then sew the gap in the waist closed.
