How to Make Your Own Vocal/Throat Spray

Community Q&A

So maybe you want your voice clearer. Maybe you've seen those cool-looking "Clear Voice" sprays around, and want to try them. Here is a recipe for a natural vocal spray that you can make at home with easily obtainable ingredients you probably already have.

  • 1/8 Tsp. Echinacea (optional)
  • 1 lemon tea bag (any type of lemon tea works)
  • 1 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup of water

  1. 1
Boil water in a tea kettle or pot.
  2. 2
Pour hot water into a dish or Pyrex measuring cup
  3. 3
Place lemon tea bag in water and allow to seep for 2 minutes
  4. 4
    Remove tea bag.
  5. 5
Mix in honey, ginger, lemon juice, and Echinacea.
  6. 6
Pour into spray bottle using a funnel. Keep leftover mixture or pour into another bottle.
  7. 7
    Label bottle if you wish.
  8. 8
Hold bottle about 14 inch (0.6 cm) from mouth. Spray 2 or 3 times. Do not swallow for about 10 seconds to allow the herbs to sink in.

  • If you really can't stand the mixture's color, add ONE drop of food coloring (if you don't care that those chemicals are going into your mouth!). I repeat, IF.
  • This mixture does not taste great. It has a honey/lemon/ginger flavor, but if you don't like that, you can add in cherry juice (good for the throat) or some other natural juice. No bottled juice because that has added sugars and chemicals.
  • The mixture comes out with a slightly un-appetizing orangey color. If you do not like looking at this, cover the bottle with a label!

  • This is a homemade recipe by me, do not use if you are allergic to the ingredients, do not sell it, and I will not be held responsible if it hurts you in any way.
