Pass it on! Nod at your friend and have it prearranged so that when you do that your friend says something like, “Can I have your highlighter?” This is your cue to ‘pass it on!’ and give it to him/her!

Tips

  • Removing the ink. You may want to use gloves or just shake the ink out. Throw the ink away. Make sure you leave the nib of the pen behind otherwise it will look suspicious.
  • Opening the marker. After taking the end off a few times it will be easier to use it, so don’t give up if the end is just too tricky to get off.
  • Picking the pen. Make sure you choose a pen that isn’t of great value to you; you won’t be able to use it again after this!
  • If you use a small piece of paper. You may just be able to use sticky notes and attach those to the ink so you can use the pen as well as using it for notes.
