How to Play Camicia

Camicia is a card game that originated in Italy, and is of pure luck for the people that play it. If you have ever played the card game "War," Camicia is related, except with more rules added. Aces, twos, and threes are "attack" cards, while all the others are "normal" cards. Here is how to play Camicia in a few easy steps.

Deal all the cards out to the two players face down. Each player should have 26 cards when all dealt.

The players alternate by turning over the top card of their stack and putting that card in a community pile on the table. If the card is a "normal" card, no actions are taken place during that players turn. The game then passes to the other player.

Suppose an "attack" card is played by a player. The other player then has to play the number of cards that correspond to the value of that attack card, which is one card for an ace, two cards for a two, and three cards for a three.

If all the cards that are responding to an attack are normal, the attacking player takes the whole community pile and puts them face down on the bottom of their stack.

Perhaps one of the cards played in response to the attack is an attack card itself. The former attack does not count, and the new attack is then played out as any attack would.

The first player to run out of cards loses the game.

  • The more cards you win through attacks, the more your attack cards become rare, making you become more vulnerable to attacks.
  • Either an Italian deck of 40 cards or an American deck of 52 cards will work, as long as an equal amount of cards are dealt to each player.

Things You'll Need

  • Deck of 52 cards
  • Two players only
