How to Play Cards Against Humanity

A famous party activity that is great for having a laugh and getting your guests to mingle, Cards Against Humanity is an adults-only game for players mature enough to handle the intentionally provocative (but often hilarious) topics and answers. The goal is to be the funniest, most provocative, or cleverest in matching one of your answer cards to the current question card. So enjoy and have some laughs. Whoever gets the most "Awesome Points" wins!

Set all your players up in a circle. Have each player draw ten white "answer" cards.
  2. 2
Chose one player to become the "Card Czar." You can choose anyway you would like, maybe the birthday person, or we always go with the youngest player.

Have the Card Czar draw a black "question" card. Then read the black "question" card out loud for the group of players. These cards are usually either written in the form of a question or as a statement with a fill-in-the-blank space.

Have each player choose the white "answer" card from their hand that they believe the Card Czar will choose as the funniest. This should be done anonymously, so have players turn their cards upside down and put them in a pile for the Card Czar.
  5. 5
Have the Card Czar shuffle the white "answer" cards and read them out loud so everyone can laugh. You can either read the black "question" card with each white "answer" card or read the black "question" card once and read each white "answer" card in order after.

Have the Card Czar choose their favorite card. The player who played the winning white "answer" card will be awarded one "Awesome Point" (they can hold onto the black "question" card to remind themselves how many points they have, or you can keep track on a score pad).
  7. 7
Make sure that everyone who played a card draws another white "answer" card. All players should again have ten white "answer" cards.
  8. 8
Select the next Czar for the next round. Some like to play that the previous winner becomes the Czar, and others prefer to move around in a circle so that everyone gets an even number of turns in the hot seat. The rules of Cards Against Humanity are pretty flexible, so feel free to go either way, if all players agree!
  9. 9
Become the winner by accumulating the most Awesome Points. Because your sense of humor is just awesome! Whenever the white "answer" card pile runs out, that is the end of the game.

  • Cards Against Humanity can have self-made house rules or you can look them up online to make your game play more fun.

  • Some cards can be vulgar!
