How to Play Your Recordings Through the PC Speakers System

Want to unwind to a background of your favourite music, audiobook or radio ? No big deal; if you have a PC with a three speakers system, this is an easy and inexpensive project. Estimates: time ( 5 mins ), money ( 3 to 4 € ). Read on for more info.

Steps

    Turn off your PC, no fan noises or blinking lights for the time being, also turn off your speakers system.

    Go to the back panel of your subwoofer and pull out the sound flex that links your speakers to your PC. The jack is most likely color-coded ( light green in the photo ) and so is the stereo female plug on the subwoofer.

    Take the jack with the double female connections and plug in it the PC audio flex and the audio flex you've just bought. Now plug the jack with the two audio flexes into the audio female plug on the panel.

    Take the other end of the new audio flex and place it somewhere handy on the countertop.

    Plug the stereo jack into a sound source.

    Switch the speakers on; as mentioned before no need to switch on the PC.

    Access and play your recordings/radio on your sound source.

Tips

  • In a similar way you can also play your PC recordings through your home stereo system. Just buy a different connecting cable, one with two male RCA plus a stereo jack ; plug it into two free color-coded inputs ( RCA female plugs) at the back of your amplifier. Turn everything on and then find where you plugged in your latest audio cable by rotating the selection input knob at the front of the amplifier. Plug the jack into the cellphone and press play on your mobile.

  • One both ends male 3.5mm stereo audio flex cable

  • A sound source e.g. a cellphone or an mp3 player
