How to Prepare a Tasty Milk Kheer

Milk kheer is a simple and delicious dish which can be made in 20-30 minutes, and which your parents and friends will love. It is a healthy dish which can be eaten as a breakfast or snack, and tastes great after a spicy meal.


  • 2 medium-sized bowls of milk, milk powder, or condensed milk, mixed with hot water
  • 15 almonds
  • 2 spoons of ghee
  • 5 cashews
  • 1 medium-sized bowl of semolina/rava
  • 8 pista nuts
  • 10 sticks of vermicelli
  • 1 medium-sized bowl of sugar

    Grind the almonds, cashews and pista together into a powder.

    Heat the ghee in the pan. Wait for the ghee to melt completely.

    Break the vermicelli into 2 inch (5 centimeter) long pieces. Add them and the semolina in the hot ghee. Sauté them to very light brown in low heat.

    Pour the milk into the mixture and keep stirring. When the milk starts boiling add the nut powder to it and stir. When it starts boiling again, add the sugar and keep stirring.

    After adding sugar the mixture in the pan becomes watery, so boil until it thickens. Remove it from the flame.

    Serve it in small bowls and garnish by sprinkling a bit of nut powder on top. Enjoy!


  • Make sure that the semolina doesn't clump.
  • Powder the nuts well.
  • Do not burn the semolina and vermicelli while roasting them.
