How to Prepare Easy Fish (Ayila) Curry

Fish curry is a very common dish in Kerala and Bengal. Fish is a rich source of numerous minerals and other essential oils that are recommended for daily consumption. It also contains Omega 3 fatty acids that help reduce cholesterol and other cardiovascular diseases.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg cleaned fresh fish
  • 2 spoons chili powder
  • 1 small piece tamarind (kudam puli)
  • 4-5 pieces fenugreek seeds
  • 1/2 tsp powder
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 small cup chopped onion
  • Curry leaves
  • Salt to taste

Steps

    Put tamarind in a bowl of water and set aside.

    Heat the mud pot and pour 3 tsp of oil into it. Add fenugreek seeds, and break all the seeds.

    When the pot is done heating, lower the flame.

    Add the ginger garlic paste, curry leaves and onion. Sauté well until the raw smell goes away.

    Add the chili and turmeric powder, and stir well. Then add the tamarind juice, cleaned fish and salt to taste. Close the pot with a lid and boil it for 15 minutes.

Tips

  • Add salt after heating the curry powder. It will make the curry taste better.
