How to Stop Doing Something

Sometimes, you have to just stop what you are doing with someone. Whatever it is you need to stop doing, this article should help with you.

    Recognize the signs that you need to quit, give up, and do something else. We've all seen these signs before, your friend is making a perverted joke, and you are getting really annoyed, and it's not funny, and you're trying to follow it but you can't- sound's familiar, doesn't it? So, just stop. A full list of signs are:
    • You hate the person and their friends. Just stop.

    • You're trying to impress someone and you're not sure why, just stop it and move on.

    • Again, the perverted joke situation.

    • You may know the time is to stop what you're doing when you make a joke that's initially funny, but don't quit while your ahead. This makes the joke non-funny, and it's best to cease what you're doing.

    • Someone, maybe a friend, is talking about their dream. While it may not be polite, stop. And get away from them.
    • A stuck-up person is talking about how smart they are and how great they've done- an exemplary moment to excuse yourself from the monologue.

    Interrupt the person now, this is part of the stopping procedure. Tell them this:
    • "You've killed it (with it referring to the original idea of the statement/conversation/joke). It's dead. Stop talking."

    If they follow this advice, then no other steps are necessary. They will leave, and you will be at peace again. If they don't, move to the next step.

    Tune out. Shut down. Stop it. If they are talking while walking, stop walking It's not good, however, to make nobody cares faces, and rolling your eyes. It's not time yet to do that. If you're going to do this step, don't drag it out.

    Try to make an excuse to leave. It's guilt free, and you don't need to talk to him/her/them.

    A really serious warning sign to stop is when someone says how they are about to take "it" to "the next level". You really don't want to be there when that happens, so disassociate yourself with all next level plans immediately.

    If they don't take the hint, run. Stop, and run to distance yourself from the person who's annoying you. It's a drastic measure of disassociation, but if surrounded in a bad situation, it's best to take off. Make sure to come back later to apologize for running out, but omit this if you don't plan on seeing them again.
