Make sure you have a pair of hair shears and that they are not dull. If you use the wrong scissors it may make the cut more difficult.

Bring all, or half, of your hair to one side and twist all the way down. You should see mostly split or frayed ends.

Tips

  • Try to hold your hair up against a light surface if it is dark in color, and vice versa. This will create a contrast and make it easier to spot the bad ends.

Warnings

  • Make certain not to cut too much off the ends to avoid uneven length.
