How to Use Barley Flour and Turmeric Powder to Remove Unwanted Facial Hair

Facial hair on the upper lip, cheeks, between the brows, and elsewhere on the face can be undesirable. While shaving or waxing this delicate area of skin is a possibility, there is always a risk of ingrown hairs, which can be uncomfortable and hard to fix. A natural approach to removing such facial hair involves the use of barley flour, turmeric powder and milk, for an all-natural solution that leaves the skin soft after hair removal.

  • 2 tablespoons barley flour
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • A small amount of milk

  1. 1
Mix the ingredients together in a small glass or ceramic bowl. Mix it until it forms a paste.
  2. 2
Apply to the facial hair. You can use a makeup applicator or your fingers.
  3. 3
Let sit on the facial hair. Leave for about 10 to 15 minutes, until it is dry but not powder-dry.
  4. 4
Rub the hairs off. Use the palms of your hands to rub the mix off your face. To remove the hairs, rub in the opposite direction in which the hair is growing.
  5. 5
Scrub off any of the mix that won't come off with your hands, while washing your face. Have a bath or shower after you've removed the facial hair.

  • Do this before taking a shower/bath or washing.
  • Do this every day for three to four months, then do it every three days. This will help to give your face and skin a healthy glow and will get rid of most of the hairs.
  • This may cause itchiness at first, so use a moisturizer cream on the skin after washing. If irritation continues for long, stop using this method.

  • This can be painful at first, but your skin will adjust soon. The harder you rub, the faster the hair comes off.
  • If you get irritated skin, cease using this method.
