Hey, Sondra, I was just going through the New Pages and I saw your new article on the Hot Dog eating contest. I'm rather glad I caught you early in the article's process, because I noticed there was actually another article, created about half an hour before yours, regarding hot dogs- ‎Eat 49 Hotdogs in 8 Minutes. The title is more obscure, but it does have SOME useful content, and was made first. Would you rather I put a merge tag on that article, and merge it into yours with the better title, or would you perfer to just change the title of the older article, and fix it up more? It doesn't particularly matter either way, I know we'll get a great article about eating a great number of hot dogs quickly out of it no matter what happens, but I was just wondering which you would perfer. Thanks!

Sounded rather close to me, since they both involve eating a great deal of hot dogs- if you can make the hot dog contest one quite distinct, that would be great. The other one is about average in new article quality, nothing spectacular, but solid enough.

Any chance you could help with this important project, either today, or in the next week or two? Your participation, if you are available, will help wikiHow to develop a larger team of active editors.

Thanks! I am so glad you can help. Yes, the idea is for you to locate a project regarding an article or a group of articles. This should be a project which you would like to do, but don't have time for. Or it can be a project which you feel someone else might have a deep knowledge of, but which you do feel you should work on. The sky is the limit. But when you find an article, do post a link to it in your thread.....so that people can just click on the link and get right to the article you have in mind.

Are you asking me HOW to post a link in the forums? Some people are confused about how to post a link in the forums, but it is easy. Just go to the article in question. Go up to the address bar. Copy the link of the title as you see it in the address bar. Paste that into the forum post.

Mkay, good deal! Good luck writing the article, sounds promising.

Yes, I know. The posting links in the forums thing is a tricky one because it is actually easier than it seems! You don't have to know any fancy forum stuff to do it, so many people give up before they figure out how easy it is.

I know you are going to think of something great! And as for the question of how many I contacted, I think I contacted six people so far ranging from very experienced editors to complete newbies! This is a project everyone can participate in. And I will be contacting more each week so that we can get more and more people interested in creating small projects and in checking that forum to see what has been posted. Please do whatever you can to spread the word.

We have a lot of big projects, yes. This particular idea relates to very very small projects. Like, for example, if you come across an article which needs to have the extra numbers removed from the steps, or which is in all caps, then you might like to post something like that to the forum. Or a more meaty one might be to give a link to the fourth of July category and ask people if they can contribute an article to help fill in a hole we might have there.

Yeah, sorry ... I didn't see the contruction tag, and I am sorry, but you must admit Drink lots of water, it'll expand your stomach muscles is pretty stupid, it'll only give you a stomach ache ... I am sorry, but as I went round patrolling, I couldn't see the construction tag.

Hope you understand, sorry again ... oh, and I'm not new here. :)

I wish you would have a nice talk with my teenager, as I am sure that fascinating being would not agree with you on the matter of my smartness. But thanks anyway!

This short project thing is meant to attract the attention of those who do not yet know a whole lot about what to do here and how to get around wikiHow. Therefore, finding an appropriate article and posting the link is the best, because it leaves very little for the reluctant editor to do. Once they get started, they will perhaps take off and do much more, so it pays for us to make it as easy for them as we possibly can.

Interesting predicament. As is so often true in wikiHow matters, both sides make a good point..while you are right that this particular reason for reverting may run somewhat contrary to policy, she is right that the inuse tag does not actually appear on the actual RC patrol area.

I think the only thing for it is to make a post in the forums, encouraging people to slow down when they patrol, and to be sure and glance at the article below the RC patrol area. If they do this, they will be sure to see the inuse tag.
